20-Bed Youth Hostel

Our 20-bed youth hostel offers a clean, warm, comfortable place to sleep for youth in need of accommodation. Our hostel also provides food, clothing, laundry, and additional support services.

Open 24/7.

Independent Living Program

Our independent living program helps young people develop the necessary skills for successful independent living. From budgeting and community engagement, to education and employment opportunities, we offer a wide range of resources to help youth grow into self-sufficient adults.

Homelessness Prevention Program

This initiative is aimed at providing youth who face potential homelessness, or who have experienced homelessness.

We provide rent supplements to help them gain access to rental housing, until they’re able to get on their feet. This program is run in conjunction with the Independent Living Program.

Community Development Initiatives

The Harbour’s Community Development Initiatives work to help Halifax residents and groups make positive changes in their community.

These initiatives target struggling neighbourhoods, with an aim to strengthen community bonds, and get young people engaged and feeling empowered to make positive change in the world around them.

Youth Outreach Mentorship Program

The Mentorship Program focuses on providing youth between the ages of 16 - 24 with adult and young adult mentors. This program aims to help youth build positive relationships, and to provide them with additional sources of support.

Our mentors advocate for and support youth in a variety of areas, including housing, employment, education, addiction, mental health, and crisis management.

After School & Summer Programs

The Harbour runs several after school and summer programs, providing recreation, social activities, and educational opportunities and support.

Our programs offer free and easily-accessible recreation and study programs to keep kids and young adults busy, engaged and active during free time.
